Real Estate can vary each day but often includes meeting with potential clients who either want to purchase a property or are thinking about selling a property. Alot of research is involved when determining specific data that may be related to home sales in various markets, researching price points or trends of a market or various activity in multiple areas. Your day can also involve meeting photographers, stagers, approving marketing materials, visiting various town offices like the building department, conservation department or the assessors office. There is often alot of phone calls to keep in touch with past clients or to introduce yourself to potentially new clients. Realtors are also involved with the buying and selling process whether that is through contract negotiations or meeting with inspectors or attorneys.

Education
High School: Norwood Senior High School
College: Northeastern University
List of classes that are most important/applicable to succeed in your profession:
It was very helpful in my profession to have a minor in Psychology since it is extremely important to understand people during what can be at times a very stressful event. I also took many business and marketing classes after graduating from college.
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Opportunities available for high school and/or college students to learn:
Since most states require a license to actually list, sell or discuss specific properties with any potential client. Non-licensed individuals can learn by assisting with computer work, mailings, deliveries and other activities that agents themselves often have to do, as well. Some may like to attend open houses to see what that is like or assist with answering calls and taking messages, ordering materials as needed. Setting up showings for the agent or calling agents for feedback from showings.

Advice From A Leader
It is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is very self-motivated and enjoys working for themselves. However, that being said, I would strongly suggest that if you are thinking about real estate as a career, consider being hired as an agent’s assistant. Not only will it provide an income while you learn but it also can provide so much behind the scenes information that you would not learn otherwise.
